This class addresses fundamental stonesetting techniques for faceted gemstones. Students will assimilate and practice mounting a variety of round and fancy cut cubic zirconia. These methods augment jewelrymaking skills as well as prepare one for potential job requirements as a bench jeweler. The class will be directed in part by the students and their needs, and the types of settings they want to learn. Linda’s teaching rationale reflects a combination of demonstrations, discussion and encouragement along with class projects that she has developed. Questions are welcome, as this is how you learn.

TOPICS INCLUDE:

1) Head setting of 4 & 6 prong, round stones

2) Basket/Head setting methods for oval, pear, trillion, marquis, princess and emerald, fancy cut  gemstones.

3) Hammer setting for bezels and flush set round stones.

4) Technique for round channel setting.
